Microtek provides application support services to a leading energy company in the North America during their multiple mergers and demergers of generation and distribution companies

The Challenges

The company faced several challenges during the demerger as there were rapid changes in senior management and overnight changes in IT strategies. Many mergers happened in a short span of time making difficult to acquire IT assets and enterprise applications like SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft. The major challenge was the collaboration and communication within the business units, redefining business processes, developing quality software and meeting the demands of an aggressive timeline. The client wanted to upgrade their Oracle Applications 10.7 platform to 11i but lacked the in-house resources to meet project timelines and financial goals.

The Solution

Microtek managed their multiple merger and demerger activities within their generation and distribution companies for their more than 30 enterprise systems including SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft. Application support for their systems was offered for more than 6 years. Microtek integrated 30+ systems and over 70 reports, enabling more than 10 subject areas (e.g., inventory, purchase orders or receipts) with very few resources saving sizeable cost. We also helped the client implement Reporting and Analytics tools and designed Sarbanes and Oxley (SOX) reporting system for this company.

Microtek helped the client to upgrade Oracle Applications from 10.7 to 11i. The various modules included supply chain, Financials, inventory, plant operations, meter readings, billing system and order to cash.
